Abroad wins the Stellar Community Fund Build Award #35 for its impact on global payments

The award highlights its progress in building crypto-fiat infrastructure for Latin America, now with new corridors like Pix in Brazil.

Bogotá, Colombia — July 17, 2025 — The Financial infrastructure Abroad has once again been awarded by the Stellar Development Foundation, receiving the Stellar Community Fund Build Award in its 35th edition. This award recognizes the most innovative projects that turn Stellar technology into real-world solutions for the global economy.

Abroad was selected for presenting a suite of tools that enable cross-border payments with stablecoins — instantly and with direct settlement into local financial systems. Among them is USDC→Pix, a new feature that converts USDC into Brazilian reais (BRL) deposited directly into Pix accounts, with no friction or intermediaries.

Funding that accelerates regional expansion

The funding obtained through SCF #35 will allow Abroad to scale these capabilities and bring them into production across new payment corridors in Latin America. For Abroad’s CEO Esteban Quintero, this prize represents more than just financial support:

From prototype to production

With this second award from Stellar, Abroad strengthens its position as a key player in building a truly functional and accessible global payments network.
